Car

As a child,
I found a bunkbed
On the road between LA and Phx
It was on the rear shelf
Of a 1975 datsun b210
A little blanket softened the speakers

When in the front seat
I sat on a lap or not
Either way
No seatbelts
Except for my mother’
Extended arm
As strong as a subway turnstile
Funny the things we Remember
about a thing on four tires
like William’s red wheel barrow
So much depended on a car
First drive-in  movie
First fender bender
First speeding ticket
first sparks of
passion in a backseat
